Do it right: How to look great in your vestments

Do you know what your vestments are called?
The red part is called a cassock
The white part is called a cotta.
You can look great in your cassock and cotta when they are lined up nice and straight. The cotta can get a little lop-sided, so check yourself in a mirror, or ask a fellow acolyte to check to make sure you're not crooked.
For added church fashion tips, go for the dark shoes and neatly combed hair!
Finally,
this is the last place we should be finding your cotta!

Installation Service

Wow! Thanks to everyone who participated in Father Tom's installation service. I was so proud of all of the acolytes, who really helped make this a very special service. Good job!

Parent information letter

Dear Parents (and Grandparents) of acolytes,
Thanks for supporting your child’s ministry as an acolyte. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

I try to prepare the acolyte schedule by the 15^th of each month (for example, the September schedule is prepared by August 15^th.)

If you know of any conflicts before I prepare the schedule, please e-mail me at benglebach at aol dot com to let me know.

If you become aware of a conflict after you receive the schedule, please try to find a substitute. If you can’t, let me know. When you find a sub, please call Nancy in the Church office so she can change the leaflet.

I try to accommodate requests (such as scheduling with a friend) but I cannot always accommodate every request.

If your child is scheduled as a crucifer, and you need a substitute, please ask other crucifers first. Likewise for torches. Some of the acolytes have been trained as both crucifers and torches. If you have a question about who would be an appropriate substitute, call or e-mail me.

If everyone agrees, I will distribute a list of acolytes and their phone numbers to help in finding substitutes.

The earlier the acolytes are, the better things go!

Please encourage your child to hang up his or her vestment.

Let me know if there is a problem with the vestments – (especially if someone has grown out of their vestments).
